In July 2001 Pittards completed its second BT Global Challenge Round the World Yacht Race.

The 2000-2001 race, which started in Southampton, lasted 10 months and covered 30,000 miles from Americas to Australasia, from Africa to Europe, testing the endurance and teamwork of the participants to the limit.

The race sailed round the world "the wrong way", against prevailing winds and tides.
