What have we achieved so far?
Some of our notable environmental improvements in the recent past include:

• Reducing the volume of leather buffing waste produced by the installation of a briquetting unit.
• Installing a scrubber system to our tanyard processes to minimise air emissions.
• Reducing the impact of process effluent by ongoing investment in effluent treatment plant technology and techniques.
• Arranging that clean and reusable empty plastic drums, scrap metal and timber materials are collected by recycling agents.

What targets are we currently working on?
Some of our major current objectives and targets include:

• Reviewing processes on an ongoing basis to ensure optimal use of chemicals and water.
• Improving our special waste storage facilities.
• Reducing our energy usage and generation of wastes.
• Evaluating whether process effluent can be clean and continuously recycled.
• Reducing our paper usage by the introduction of Email and Lotus Notes.
• Evaluating alternative options other than landfill for waste streams.
